DIRECT TAXES - Tax Information (click on heading below then click again) Fiscal (Tax) Year Lodgement of Returns of Income Joint Returns Tax Losses Tax Clearance Tax Agents Secrecy Provisions Double Tax Treaties Double Tax Treaties Papua New Guinea has eight Double Tax Agreements with the following countries: · Canada (concluded in 1988 came into force 1 January 1990 in respect of both PNG and Canada) · · Australia (concluded in 1989 came into force 1 January 1991 for PNG and 1 July 1991 for Australia). · United Kingdom (concluded in 1991 came into force 1 January 1992 for PNG and 1 April 1992 for the United Kingdom). · Republic of Singapore (concluded in 1991 came into force 1 January 1993 for PNG and will apply to Singapore taxes in the second year following its entry into force). · Malaysia (concluded in 1993 came into force 1 January 1994 in respect of both PNG and Malaysia). · China (concluded in 1994 came into force 1 January 1995 in respect to both PNG and China). · South Korea (concluded in 1996 came into force on 1 January 1999 in respect of both PNG and South Korea). · Fiji (concluded in 1997 came into force on 1 January 1999 in respect of both Fiji and PNG).
