IRC Structure Customs
Agents A Customs agent is solely responsible to act on behalf of his client to clear imported goods or goods for export. Becoming a Customs Agent Customs is responsible for the licensing of a Customs Agent. An individual or a representative of a company intending to become a Customs Licensed Agent can do so by following these criteria: |

i. Apply in writing to Customs stating his, her, or their intention, |
|
||
|
|
ii. The application will be placed in a pool with other application until Customs decide the appropriate time to hold examinations. |

|
iii. Three major papers make the examination and that includes a Tariff Paper, a Valuation paper and a General paper. The current average pass mark 75%. |

Before a
license is issued a licensee must put up a security by way of a Bank
Guarantee equal to an amount based on the aggregate of the total value in
duty cleared by the person in the previous year which is determined by
Customs. The person also pays an annual license fee of K200.00 per year
|
||||
