IRC Structure Asycuda The ASYCUDA software is developed in Geneva by UNCTAD. ASYCUDA was originally developed in early 80s on micro computers which were extremely limited by today's standards. In order to benefit from the latest innovations in information technology (IT) the ASYCUDA Technical Development and Implementation Unit (ATDI) has designed and developed ASYCUDA++ which uses object oriented tools in a client/server architecture and is based on a relational data base management system (RDBMS). This version has been ported to a wide range of both Intel and risk-based platforms. Nearly 80 Customs administrations use the old version of ASYCUDA while about 25 countries are on ASYCUDA++. (Further details on ASYCUDA System can be obtained from ASYCUDA website- asycuda.org) ASYCUDA
System was first introduced in Papua New Guinea in 1993 at Port Moresby. The
System is now running in Lae, Madang, Kimbe, Jacksons, and Mt Hagen. Actions
have been taken to implement the System in remaining ports by July 2001. IRC
is considering the migration to ASYCUDA++.
